Hughes Ventures LLC, doing business as DEN BJJ (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operates denbjj.com and members.denbjj.com (the “Sites”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.

  • Account Information: Username, password, membership preferences
  • Payment Information: Billing details, processed by our payment providers — we do not store full card numbers on our systems
  • Training Information: Belt rank, attendance records, check-in history, skill level
  • Waivers: Signed liability waivers and the date signed
  • Order Information: Merchandise orders and fulfilment details
  • Event Bookings: Which events you have reserved a place at, your position on a waitlist, who made the booking if someone in your household booked for you, and whether a ticket was paid

Public Display of Member Information

Our member portal includes a leaderboard and gym-wide attendance displays that show member names alongside check-in counts and training streaks. If you would prefer not to appear, you may opt out at any time and your entries will display as “Anonymous Member” instead. Contact us or use your family settings to opt out.

How We Use Your Information

  • Manage your membership and provide access to classes
  • Process payments and billing
  • Fulfil merchandise orders
  • Communicate with you about your membership, schedules, and events
  • Send you updates, newsletters, and promotional materials (you can opt out)
  • Improve our services and website
  • Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our business:

  • Invoice Ninja: Billing, invoicing, and payment records for memberships and orders
  • Stripe: Card processing, used as the payment gateway behind Invoice Ninja (subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy)
  • Brevo: Email delivery and communications (subject to Brevo’s Privacy Policy)
  • Google Maps: The map on our Contact and FAQ pages is loaded from Google when you scroll to it (subject to Google’s Privacy Policy)

These services may collect and process your information according to their own privacy policies.

Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies for authentication and to maintain your logged-in state on our member portal. These cookies are managed by NextAuth and are necessary for the site to function. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your membership is active. After cancellation, we retain your data for 7 years to comply with legal, tax, and accounting requirements. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at [email protected].

Your Rights

Under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information

  • Opt out of public display of your name on leaderboards and attendance displays
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13. Parents or guardians who enroll children in our kids program (ages 6-13) provide information on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
